Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases Group, part of Nikkiso Co. Ltd.’s Industrial Business segment, has announced a strategic partnership with French company GTT to enhance the LNG-fueled cargo shipping market. This collaboration combines Nikkiso’s advanced high-pressure fuel gas pump skids with GTT’s innovative Recycool™ technology, aiming to advance both companies’ positions in the maritime industry.
GTT’s Recycool™ technology is designed to manage boil-off gas (BOG) safely, minimising emissions and improving fuel efficiency. The integration of this technology with Nikkiso’s hardware promises enhanced performance for LNG-fuelled vessels, offering ship owners improved reliability and operational efficiency. The partnership is expected to provide a competitive advantage in the market by addressing the challenges associated with LNG storage and usage.
Adrian Ridge, CEO of Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “Our collaboration with GTT represents a significant step forward in the LNG-fuelled shipping sector. The initial large order for 10 container ships underscores the strength of our combined expertise, and we anticipate further successes.”
GTT CEO Jean-Baptiste Choimet added, “We are pleased to work with Nikkiso to provide effective solutions for managing boil-off gas. Our Recycool™ system is a testament to the industry’s confidence in our technology, as evidenced by its adoption by leading shipyards in China and South Korea.”
The partnership has already gained traction, with recent awards from major shipping operators and several projects currently under negotiation. This development marks a notable advancement in the integration of cutting-edge technologies aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of the shipping industry.
