Cellebrite, a global leader in digital investigative solutions, has announced the launch of Pathfinder in the Cloud in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS). This new offering enables users to access Cellebrite’s advanced investigative analytics solution via Amazon’s secure Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), enhancing capabilities for both public and private sector investigations.

Pathfinder, which was previously available only on-premises, now benefits from cloud deployment, significantly reducing the time investigators spend on cases. The solution employs artificial intelligence (AI) to quickly identify relevant data and connections across multiple devices. It can recognise slang and terms linked to criminal activities and categorise explicit images, thereby reducing the exposure of disturbing content. Pathfinder’s Optical Character Recognition (OCR) feature makes text from images and devices searchable, while its Automated Translation Services help law enforcement overcome language barriers efficiently.

The cloud version of Pathfinder, integrated into Cellebrite’s Case-to-Closure (C2C) platform, offers several advantages over traditional setups. Agencies no longer need to invest in physical servers or dedicated secure rooms. Instead, they can scale resources and storage according to demand, paying only for what they use.

Key features of Pathfinder in the AWS cloud include:

  • Rapid Resource Commissioning: The cloud environment allows for quick commissioning and decommissioning of resources, in contrast to the longer lead times required for on-premises systems.
  • High Availability and Redundancy: Amazon VPC ensures high availability, data redundancy, and failover capabilities, with robust security and business continuity, removing the need for high-availability infrastructure investments.
  • Flexible Infrastructure: Customers can customise their infrastructure, security, and compliance controls to meet their specific requirements without relying on physical hardware.

Cam Cowdery, a detective with the Nampa, Idaho Police Department, praised the cloud-based solution, noting that it combines the adaptability of a secure virtual private cloud with Pathfinder’s AI-driven analysis to expedite evidence access and case resolution.

Ronnen Armon, Chief Products and Technologies Officer at Cellebrite, emphasised the importance of secure, AI-powered cloud solutions as digital evidence grows in volume and complexity. He highlighted that Pathfinder’s integration with Amazon VPC allows agencies to scale their resources efficiently and accelerate the analysis of digital evidence.
