Duckhams, the iconic oil brand, marked its 125th anniversary with a global networking event at the Brands Hatch circuit, coinciding with the final round of the 2024 British GT Championship. The event brought together partners and distributors from around the world to celebrate the brand’s rich heritage and ongoing commitment to motorsport.

Guests enjoyed an exclusive pitlane experience, offering them a close-up view of the thrilling world of motor racing. Attendees also heard insights from Adam Smalley, the championship-winning driver in the British GT series, and Daryl DeLeon, a driver competing in the British Touring Cars Championship (BTCC). Both shared their experiences from the racing season and the significant role Duckhams plays in their success on the track.

Smalley, who clinched the British GT 2024 title and previously won the Porsche Carrera Cup GB in 2023, emphasised the importance of engine reliability. “As a driver, I rely on every aspect of my car’s performance to give me an edge. Engine reliability and performance are key, and that’s where Duckhams plays a vital role. Their oils provide the protection and efficiency needed for my car to perform at its peak during some of the most intense moments of racing,” he stated.

Daryl DeLeon, reflecting on Duckhams’ illustrious legacy, said, “I’ve known of Duckhams and their association with motorsport for many years, seeing them in Formula Ford, on the Porsches, and in the British GT. As a young driver, it’s inspiring to represent such an iconic brand. This is my first full year in the BTCC, and it marks the return of Duckhams Racing to BTCC. It feels amazing to be part of Duckhams’ history in BTCC. It’s incredible to have the whole team around me, pushing for results.”

The event also featured the premiere of a new corporate video showcasing Duckhams’ journey of resilience and innovation over the past 125 years, along with its vision for the future. The company’s chairman, Jabir Sheth, welcomed the guests, noting, “Brands do not make people, but people make brands.” He was joined by Global CEO Mike Bewsey, who outlined plans for growth in Europe, the MENA region, and Asia through a newly formed global leadership team. Rajat Moitra, Global Chief Marketing Officer, elaborated on marketing strategies, including motorsport partnerships and the introduction of loyalty apps for workshops.

A standout feature of the VIP event was the Duckhams Partner Awards, recognising a range of global distributors for their business excellence and contributions to the brand’s success.

Duckhams’ association with motorsports dates back to its founding in 1899 by Alexander Duckham, a pioneer in modern lubrication technology. The brand’s legacy includes a notable history in the land-speed record in 1948, alongside numerous achievements in F1, BTCC, British GT, Formula Ford, and BRIC Superbikes, with celebrated drivers from Ayrton Senna to current champions like Dan Cammish, Shaun Balfe, Adam Smalley, and Daryl DeLeon.

As Duckhams looks forward to the next 125 years, the event served as a reminder of its enduring commitment to quality and innovation in the automotive industry.
