Playmonster UK has teamed up with Teacher’s Pet to launch a nationwide Spirograph Design Competition, inviting primary school pupils across the UK to create autumn-themed Spirograph designs. The competition is open to all Key Stage 2 (KS2) pupils aged 7 to 11, offering them a chance to win exciting prizes, including a bundle of Spirograph products and a Teacher’s Pet membership for their entire school.
To encourage participation, Playmonster UK is offering 250 schools a free Spirograph kit, which includes the original Spirograph set and four Spirograph envelopes. Additionally, educational resources are being provided to schools, created in collaboration with Teacher’s Pet. These materials, aligned with the national curriculum, highlight how Spirograph patterns can be found in nature, mathematics, art, and even in living creatures. The aim is to inspire pupils by showing the creative potential of Spirograph designs beyond traditional drawing.
One of the main attractions of the competition is the opportunity to win a visit from Spirograph Girl, Rachel Evans, who has gained widespread recognition for her intricate Spirograph artwork, which she shares on social media. The winning school will enjoy an exclusive art session with her, where she will guide pupils in exploring even more creative uses of the Spirograph set.
Rachel Evans, who is set to judge the competition, said: “I’ve been using Spirograph since I was a child, and it has turned into something more wonderful than I could ever imagine. I’m very excited to judge the Spirograph Competition and can’t wait to see the pupils’ amazing designs. I’m looking forward to hosting an art session for the winning school alongside Teacher’s Pet!”
Justin Clasby, Director of International Marketing at Playmonster UK, echoed Evans’ enthusiasm: “This is a fantastic opportunity for budding young artists to engage with the Spirograph range and learn from Rachel, the famous Spirograph Girl. I’m really looking forward to seeing the children’s colourful autumn-themed Spirograph creations.”
Teacher’s Pet, an award-winning educational platform with over half a million members, will be playing a key role in promoting the competition. The competition details and free Spirograph resource pack will be highlighted on the Teacher’s Pet website and featured in their newsletters and social media channels, which include 257,000 newsletter subscribers and over 230,000 Facebook followers.
Christina Loftus, Creative Director at Teacher’s Pet, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with Playmonster UK and Spirograph. Teacher’s Pet is passionate about bringing creativity into the classroom, and this competition feels like a perfect fit for us. We’re excited to see all the entries and anticipate a tough time picking the winner.”
The Spirograph Design Competition is open to KS2 pupils in all UK primary schools. Teachers have until 17th November to submit their pupils’ entries. For more information and to enter, teachers can visit the Teacher’s Pet website at https://tpet.co.uk/spirograph/.
The competition promises to celebrate creativity, encourage hands-on learning, and inspire the next generation of young artists while showcasing the versatility of the Spirograph design tool, which has been loved by children and families for nearly 60 years.
