Scanbot SDK has unveiled significant enhancements to its Barcode Scanner SDK, now capable of scanning up to 26 barcodes per second, with each scan taking just 0.04 seconds. This marks a substantial improvement from the previous scanning time of 0.2 seconds per barcode.

The leap in performance comes as a result of ongoing refinements to the SDK’s machine learning model and computer vision algorithms. However, Scanbot SDK’s latest advancements are not solely focused on speed. The company has also prioritised accuracy and the ability to function effectively under challenging conditions, such as poor lighting.

Eduard Frank, CTO of Scanbot SDK, emphasised the importance of accuracy in addition to speed. “Scanning speeds are impressive, but an enterprise-grade scanning SDK must deliver near-perfect accuracy under all conditions. Our clients demand and deserve this level of precision,” he said.

To demonstrate the capabilities of the improved SDK, Scanbot conducted a rigorous test involving a conveyor belt that moved 34 distinct barcodes past an iPhone equipped with the SDK at high speed for 10 seconds. The result was 260 barcodes scanned with zero errors; a feat that was showcased in a video published on YouTube.

The new version of the Barcode Scanner SDK also boasts enhanced ease of integration. With comprehensive documentation and responsive developer support, companies can now implement the SDK’s scanning features in less than an hour. The introduction of RTU UI v.2.0 further simplifies this process by providing app developers with pre-configured, easy-to-integrate user interface components, reducing integration time to just minutes.

Frank highlighted the engineering team’s commitment to both performance and usability. “We understand that high-quality code and well-designed documentation are crucial for a smooth integration process. Our goal is to create a product that not only excels in functionality but is also favoured by developers,” he noted.

Scanbot SDK’s advancements promise to streamline barcode scanning processes across various industries, setting a new benchmark for speed and accuracy in the field.
