Two new online tools supported by the Big Lottery Fund are designed to give voluntary organisations the ability to improve their performance and sustainability.
The VCSE Strength Checker, which will be available from 1st February, will
“produce a personalised report highlighting an organisation’s key strengths and areas to help them become more effective, including sustainability, marketing, strategy and planning, track record, quality and impact.”

The Community Shares Standard has been launched as a quality mark for community share offers that meet standards of good practice. The Community Shares Unit has also published new data which shows rapid growth in the number of communities who are pooling resources to buy and run local assets together.

The first bilingual edition of a well-established quality standard written by the third sector, for the third sector, was launched at the Norwegian Church in Cardiff Bay, on 10th June.
The PQASSO quality standard can help organisations to ‘do things better’, and the launch features presentations from speakers whose organisations have previously achieved the standard.

The Charity Commission has endorsed the latest versions of two quality systems, Mind’s Quality Management and QA3 from UK Community Foundations.
The Commissions’ Quality Assessment Endorsement Programme encourages umbrella bodies to develop a set of quality standards that their members commit to, which the Commission then endorses.
