The Charity Commission (England and Wales) has opened a customer survey about the use of its digital services. It asks questions about preferred times, communication methods, etc.

Northern Ireland’s sector umbrella body NICVA is currently delivering infrastructure support for faith based organisations on behalf of the Department for Communities. As part of this work, they have produced a short survey for faith based organisations to complete, in order to understand the needs of these organisations and the work that they do with the wider community in Northern Ireland.

HM Revenue and Customs has launched a further consultation on simplifying the Gift Aid donor benefits rules.
This follows an earlier consultation which ended May 2016 – it received 61 responses but didn’t get a clear consensus settling on a single reform proposal. Fundraising UK gives further background.

A draft for a new version of the Code of Good Governance has been published for consultation. Civil Society News says that this is a radical update. It proposes that trustee boards must consider mergers with other charities or winding their charity up, if other organisations are seen to be fulfilling similar charitable purposes more effectively.

Regulator Ofcom has started a consultation on ‘Community Radio: future licensing and technical policy’.
After more than a decade issuing of Ofcom issuing licences, there are now nearly 250 community radio stations in the UK.
Ofcom is coming to the end of its third round of community radio licensing and would like to offer more licences where suitable spectrum is available. We propose to run a fourth round, which will be shorter and more focused than previous rounds, and this consultation seeks views on our preferred licensing approach for this forthcoming round.

The Charity Commission is consulting on proposed updates to its guidance for charities ‘What to do if something goes wrong: reporting serious incidents’. The guidance
aims to help charities identify what to report and when. Listing the most common types of incidents, the guidance explains what should be reported to the Commission (as well as to the police and other regulators). New checklists and a table of examples of what, and what not, to report to the Commission are included.
