VCS Equality and Human Rights Framework

A new Equality and Human Rights Performance Framework has been developed “by the sector for the sector”. The online resource provides a way for voluntary and community organisations of all shapes and sizes to understand “how we can become stronger, and be more effective, when we approach the things we do from a human rights and equality based perspective”.

Impact of Equality Act 2010 on charities

A year-long study by University of Liverpool’s Charity Law and Policy Unit has found that charities could be left exposed and ill-equipped to address the complex legal questions generated by the Equality Act 2010. The research found that although charities are aware of the legislation they may not understand how it affects them. Official equality guidance

The Equality and Human Rights Commission has published “easy to understand” advice for small businesses on how to prevent discrimination and avoid costly legal challenges, explaining how the 2010 Equality Act relates to their operations. Much will be of relevance to voluntary organisations, particularly those providing services.
