The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) is consulting members, the wider third sector and anyone else with an interest, to help it shape its future. As a prelude, SCVO has converted to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, joining over a thousand other Scottish charities.
Scottish charity regulator OSCR has confirmed the registration of the thousandth SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation). First available in April 2011, SCIOs now account for a third of all new applications for charitable status in Scotland.

The date for companies limited by guarantee to be able to apply to become charitable incorporated organisations has been delayed, Civil Society Media reports, http://www.civilsociety.co.uk/governance/news/content/17135/. This had been expected for early 2014, but there is no current date set.

From Bates Wells Braithwaite weekly review: there has been confirmation from the Charity Commission that Charitable Incorporated Organisations can now be registered with incomes under five thousand pounds. Pending the website/online form being updated, “you will need to put on the form that your income is over £5,000 in order to progress . .
