In a significant development for China’s bicycle industry, DAHON, a leader in folding bikes, and RoyalBaby, a prominent player in children’s bicycles, announced a strategic partnership during a press conference at the Shangri-La Hotel in Beijing on August 9, 2024. This collaboration marks a crucial milestone aimed at enhancing innovation and quality in the bicycle market.

The partnership combines DAHON’s renowned expertise in folding bike technology and scientific advancements with RoyalBaby’s commitment to high-quality children’s bicycles. Both companies have expressed their belief that their combined strengths will revitalise the children’s bicycle segment while promoting overall quality and healthy growth within the broader bicycle industry in China.

Ms. Liang Mei, President of the China Toy and Juvenile Products Association, highlighted the significance of the alliance, stating, “As DAHON and RoyalBaby have accumulated a wealth of knowledge and outstanding performance in their respective fields, this strategic cooperation will surely set a new benchmark for the industry. I sincerely hope that this cooperation can drive more enterprises to actively explore their frontier of innovation and jointly promote the sustainable and healthy development of China’s toy and baby products industry.”

The partnership aligns with the philosophies of “sharing, win-win, and co-development,” as noted by Ms. Zheng Xiaoling, Director of the China Bicycle Association. She expressed optimism that the collaboration would lead the bicycle industry toward more intelligent, personalised, and environmentally friendly practices.

Dr. David Hon, Founder of DAHON, emphasised the company’s commitment to lightweight and sustainable transportation solutions. In his keynote address titled “Driving High-Quality Industry Development through Shared Economy,” he noted that DAHON holds over 500 bicycle-related patents and has actively shared its innovations through the “Sharing 360” global initiative. He believes that the partnership with RoyalBaby represents a significant step forward for the bicycle market in China.

Mr. Tong Lixin, Chairman of RoyalBaby, reinforced the company’s dedication to the children’s bicycle sector, focusing on research and innovation to ensure safe and practical products for children globally. He expressed confidence that the collaboration with DAHON would enhance both brands’ technological prowess, product innovation, and influence in the global market.

During the event, Dr. Hon and Mr. Tong unveiled five new co-branded children’s bikes. RoyalBaby’s Brand Director, Mr. Liu Chang, presented the upgraded models, highlighting enhancements in design, manufacturing processes, safety features, and riding experiences. These new offerings aim to provide a comprehensive solution for the children’s bicycle market.

This partnership is only the beginning of a broader collaboration, with plans to explore areas such as technological innovation, channel marketing, and service promotion. Mr. Xu Hongchen, Domestic Sales Manager of DAHON, discussed future market trends, indicating that DAHON and RoyalBaby aim to enrich consumer experiences while supporting the shift towards greener urban mobility.
