Scotland’s sector body SCVO has launched a #RightApproach campaign, promoting human rights in the third sector.

The introductory article looks at why now, which appears to be largely down to the  UK Government reaffirming plans to press ahead with a British Bill of Rights, replacing the 1998 Human Rights Act.

OSCR briefing on Scottish water charge exemption

Scottish charity regulator OSCR has produced a briefing note setting out the answers to some common questions about the Water Charges and Sewerage Exemption scheme.

The scheme, introduced last year by the Scottish Government, is to assist charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs with the payment of water and sewerage charges. Organisations now need to reapply every year via their water company to continue to benefit.

Guidance for social enterprises on Scottish charity registration

Scotland’s charity regulator OSCR has published new guidance for social enterprises thinking about becoming a charity. In the form of FAQs, this addresses some of the questions applicants have about becoming a charity, as well as some of the issues OSCR frequently sees in applications from social enterprises.
