Mapping faith based voluntary organisations in N Ireland

A database of all religious and community faith based organisations in Northern Ireland is being developed by voluntary sector body NICVA and Rural Community Network, to get a grip on the size, scope and work of the sector.

N Ireland regulator gets a quick review

The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland (CCNI) is to get a quick review, the Minister for Communities in the Northern Ireland Executive announced in early August. The review will be carried out by a senior civil servant, with expert input on charity regulation and law. New sector stats for Wales and Northern Ireland

Sizing up the sector in N Ireland

Northern Ireland’s umbrella body NICVA has launched its latest State of the Sector research in a new online format. This provides information on the “size, scope and finances of the Northern Ireland Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector”.

Reporting guidance for Northern Ireland charities

The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland has published new guidance for charities on their duties under the new accounting and reporting regulations.

These regulations apply to all charities registered with CCNI with a financial year starting on or after 1st January 2016, but the Commission is strongly recommending that all charitable organisations should apply them as a matter of good practice.

Options for NI fundraising regulation

The future of fundraising regulation for Northern Ireland has so far been left to one side in the developments for England and Wales, and separately for Scotland.

Northern Ireland’s sector body NICVA has now said that it

“will engage with the sector on this issue and will seek responses by 30 September 2016 to help inform a recommendation for a way forward in Northern Ireland.”
