Research by the University of Manchester has been looking at the impact of mySociety’s digital civic tools – FixMyStreet, WriteToThem, TheyWorkForYou and WhatDoTheyKnow.

Sector concerns on Scottish devolution moves

The Church of Scotland, the Scottish Trades Union Congress and the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations have called for citizens to be involved in deciding what powers should be within the control of the Scottish Parliament and what should remain at Westminster. However, the speed of the current timetable for reform means that the views of the public are in danger of being ignored. Third Force News article.

Online resource for youth social action

A new website, Action Squads Academy, is about “mobilising young people across the country to engage in meaningful social action through a resource bank and our opportunity hub”. Partners include the Royal Society for Protection of Birds, the National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs, The Canal and River Trust, Conservation Volunteers, National Council for Voluntary Youth Services.
