The National Coalition for Independent Action has co-ordinated an open letter in response to a letter to the economic secretary to the Treasury from 14 prominent sector groups which appeared to support the government's approach to public services.

The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations has published the results of this year's State of the Sector Survey. Respondents main concerns this year were around coping with increased demand for services, competition for limited resources and the need to invest in new services.

The Wales Co-operative Centre has published its fourth and final report for the International Year of Co-operatives, 'Community Co-operatives in Wales'. Based on the results of a survey of 23 Welsh community co-operatives, it highlights the economic, social and environmental benefits and includes case studies from Wales and elsewhere.

Charity Finance Group along with PKF Accountants have published the findings of their 2012 Risk Survey 'Managing Risk: Making the most out of your resources'. Responses from over 200 charities show continued anxiety arising from income uncertainty, with many seeking better value for money by improving how they use their assets.

Social Enterprise UK has launched the 'Social Value Guide', "a practical tool designed to help local authorities and other public bodies embed social value in all their commissioning and procurement practices", in anticipation of the Social Value Act coming into force from January.
