Sayer Vincent’s W Midlands seminar series for charity finance professionals

Sayer Vincent, the award-winning firm of auditors and chartered accountants specialising in charities, social enterprises and not-for-profit organisations, is hosting five charity finance seminars in Birmingham during 2017.

The first event, ‘SORP Made Simple’ took place on 9th February and is followed by a seminar on ‘Preparing Charity Accounts’ on 9th March, ‘Reading Charity Accounts’ on 25th April, ‘How to be a Good Trustee’ on 7th June and ‘Charity Tax Made Simple’ on 15th November 2017 at etc Venues, Maple House, 150 Corporation Street, B4 6TB, Birmingham.

The seminars will help charity finance professionals in the Midlands and surrounding areas get up-to-date with the latest accounting and tax practices affecting the sector. The events are ideal for those who are new to the sector, as well as those in need of a refresher.

For example, the ‘Preparing Charity Accounts’ seminar aims to provide participants with an overview of charity accounting, the key stages in drafting a set of year-end accounts and tips on how to prepare for an audit. The ‘Charity Tax Made Simple’ seminar covers tax issues, which can be particularly complicated for charities, including VAT and gift aid.

Jonathan Orchard, Partner, Sayer Vincent says, “Our goal is to help our charity clients become more effective at achieving their mission and to simplify finance and accounting issues. Teaching and training is at the core of our business. Our seminars are designed to make our clients lives easier by providing them with the technical information they need to do some of the work themselves.

“Charities are facing increasing financial pressure and by offering free training sessions, as well as other resources such as our Made Simple guides, we can help our clients achieve their goals more cost-effectively”.

Experienced trainers with over 30 years’ experience in the charity sector, Sayer Vincent runs an annual programme of seminars in London and Birmingham, for charity finance professionals, as well as training courses with CFG and Cass Centre for Charity Effectiveness.

The seminars are free to attend for all Sayer Vincent clients. For non-clients the fee is £75 plus VAT for half day seminars and £150 plus VAT for full day seminars.

All the Birmingham seminars will take place at: etc Venues, Maple House, 150 Corporation Street, B4 6TB, Birmingham.
