Interim fundraising complaints system for N Ireland

With progress on developing arrangements for fundraising regulation for Northern Ireland expected in the autumn, an announcement on the NICVA web pages appeared 29th November.

An NI Fundraising Regulation Working Group has now been established – a “starting point for a full consultation on the way forward”.

The article details the working group membership and its remit:

  • Produce an options appraisal for the proposed options for NI which could be used as an engagement tool by the sector.
  • Engage with the voluntary and community sector consulting and gathering views.
  • Analyse the findings of the consultation and produce a report with recommendations.
  • Establish an action plan/process for implementation.

The initial consultation event had also recommended that an interim fundraising self-regulation system should be chosen, pending a full consultation on options.  The working group has agreed to accept an offer from the Fundraising Regulator for England and Wales to field fundraising complaints for NI for the interim period.

A hub will be set up in the next few weeks on, where all documents and information relevant to the debate on the future of fundraising regulation in Northern Ireland will be available.

See ‘First update on progress of the NI Fundraising Regulation consultation‘ for the list of working group members, a little more detail and contacts.
