‘Eve Rose’ launched to mark blossoming new charity partnership

A new partnership between women’s gynaecological cancer charity The Eve Appeal and Harkness Roses will today be announced through the launch of a new and unique ‘Eve Rose’ at Gardener’s World Live.

The bright pink rose, with a contrasting yellow centre, has been bred and named especially for The Eve Appeal and will be sold throughout the year, with a percentage of the profits being donated to the charity.

This is a significant new partnership for The Eve Appeal – a charity who fund pioneering research and raise awareness of gynaecological cancers, which are the world’s fourth biggest cancer killer and the second most common cancer among women in the UK.

Athena Lamnisos, CEO of The Eve Appeal says:

The partnership with Harkness Roses will not only provide us with the opportunity to raise vital funds in a hugely under-funded area – detection, risk prediction and prevention of gynaecological cancers – but it will help us to raise the profile of these cancers with a diverse audience. This is imperative given gynaecological cancers can affect any mother, daughter, sister or friend and yet are too little known and talked about.

“We use flowers to say so many things about how we feel. So the Eve Rose marks a very special partnership. We hope our collaboration with Harkness Roses will inspire people to support The Eve Appeal. Everyone who buys this rose and so donates to our work will be honouring and remembering the 55 women a day in the UK who are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer, nearly half of whom will lose their fight for life.”
