Community sector challenges and new resources home

New home for community services

Following the announcement of the closure of support organisation Community Matters, there is news on what happens next for its members and services.

There are membership offers from Locality and a new home for its advice, guidance, toolkits and training resources. A new venture, Advising Communities, will host and deliver many of the key services to community organisations across both England and Wales. Advising Communities is being set up by Advising London (previously Blackfriars Advice Centre – your editor used to know it well!).

Lessons from Urban Forum

The legacy report for community sector infrastructure body Urban Forum, which closed down in 2014, was formally launched recently.

The report is available in web magazine format on FlipSnack. It presents important findings for the sustainability and viability of the community sector, according to a blog for Locality written by Urban Forum’s former co-chair. The blog covers “what we can learn from the charity’s fate and the questions its closure should prompt us all to consider”.
