Community ownership for (sports) clubs and pubs

Scotland’s Third Force News reports, under ‘Communities get help to take over sports clubs‘, that new organisation Club Development Scotland is to help community groups that are looking to get involved in the running of any kind of sports team, giving legal, financial and governance support.

CDS is a spin-off from Supporters Direct Scotland, which was originally set up to make football clubs more sustainable through supporters involvement and community ownership. It will help with moving clubs, from grassroots athletics teams to a professional football club, into third sector organisations that deliver social and community benefit.

How a pub became the community hub

Community business website Power to Change has a short piece from the Bamford Community Society explaining their journey to becoming a successful community business running the the Angler’s Rest pub, and the positive impact on their Derbyshire community.
