Campaign to protect charity shop rates exemption

A campaign has been launched by 13 charities in Northern Ireland to protect rate relief for charity shops.

NI charity shops are currently entitled to full relief on their business rates, but this is being reviewed by Stormont’s Department of Finance and Personnel, with the possibility that it could be reduced or eliminated.

Support can be added via icampaigner, where #MoreThanAShop

calls on the Northern Ireland Executive to value the important contribution made by charity shops, and continue to exempt charity shops from paying business rates.
