Negotiating NJC pay rates from April 2016

Northern Ireland umbrella body NICVA has an update on progress (or not) on the 2016/17 pay claim for the NJC payscales. These are negotiated between trade unions and local government employers, for use across Northern Ireland, England and Wales, and are widely referred to by voluntary organisations.

The cost of living increase for 2016/17 has not yet been agreed, with the unions wanting pay rates below the UK Living Wage abolished, and a flat rate increase of £1 per hour on all other pay points. The employers have responded with a one per cent offer from April. See NICVA article for more details.

The current NJC pay agreement is that from December 2014.
