Minimum pay rates from April 2016

The regulations for the National Living Wage coming in from 1st April 2016 have now been made.

The new minimum pay from 1st April 2016 will be:

  • age 25 plus – £7.20 per hour (the National Living Wage)
  • 21 to 25, £6.70ph
  • 18 to 21 years, £5.30ph
  • under 18 £3.87ph
  • apprentices £3.30ph

Even our immediate source, Daniel Barnett’s Employment Law Bulletin, points out that this “is nothing more than a tweak to the minimum wage regulations”. Link to The National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Regulations 2016 (pdf, 37KB).
