New body offers charity tech consultations

A number of technology focused organisations have come together to create the Charities IT Association, offering a two hour Tech Surgery consultation at no cost for registered charities.

As reported by Charity Digital News, the CITA founder members are AbilityNet, Reach Volunteering, Lasa, Technology Trust and the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists (which runs IT4Communities).

The CITA website states that the Tech Surgery facility is currently fully booked, but there is an option to sign up to a waiting list. We are also awaiting clarification if the service is truly available across the UK, as they only refer to Charity Commission registered charities.

Update At February 2016, CITA is “now ready to launch with a member of staff to co-ordinate the programme”. Currently only England and Wales, but hope to go wider soon.
