Starters on charity strategy, impact and enthusiasm

Some recent resource material for charity trustees and managers.

Sector think tank New Philanthropy Capital has a new briefing paper for trustees following its seminar on charity strategy, ‘Developing an effective strategy: An introduction for trustees‘. Sections cover topics such as The right team for the job and the importance of context, with a couple of short case studies.

Also from NPC, a briefing paper on how trustees can ensure their charities are focusing on impact, also following on from a seminar. ‘Developing an effective strategy: An introduction for trustees‘ has a few more case studies and focuses on the Impact Cycle of ‘Plan, Do, Assess, Review’.

Both NPC publications are just 9 pages, so definitely just starters – the further reading lists could be more substantial.

The Guardian’s Voluntary Sector Network has ‘Measuring impact: a guide to resources and tools‘, with many more links to online tools, examples, blogs and other resources.

New on NCVO’s website is ‘Reinvigorating your board‘. “Enthusiasm tends to lead to more effective individual trustees and a stronger board”, and this gives some ideas for generating such enthusiasm.
