Work on assessing the impact of a leading (American) charitable foundation, which invests for social and/or environmental purposes, has led New Philanthropy Capital to create a new framework. The Impact Assurance Classification enables the comparison of investments based on their impact.

The publication ‘Investing for impact: Practical tools, lessons, and results‘ provides practical tools and guidance for other impact investors to apply to their own portfolio, as well as the results of NPC’s review of the impact created by the KL Felicitas Foundation.
The Institute for Voluntary Action Research has produced ‘Evaluation Within UK Trusts and Foundations – practice, use and challenges. This is based on a survey of larger trusts and foundations in the UK, and “designed to address a need for more information about the positioning, resourcing and uses of evaluation”.
