Measures to prevent charities financing terrorism -consultation

The Charity Commission is encouraging charities to take part in a consultation on protecting charities against terrorist abuse. This is being run by the Financial Action Task Force, the global standard-setting body for anti-money laundering and counter terrorist financing. Every country is expected to meet its standards.

FATF Recommendation 8 focuses on non-profit organisations and the implementation of measures so that they cannot be abused for the financing of terrorism.

The consultation closes on 6pm (Central European Time, an hour ahead of GMT) on 27th November. See the Commission’s news release for further details, how to respond and link to the consultation.
