Friends of Education Africa  is the UK arm of Education Africa, a non-profit organisation established in 1992, to deliver projects to help disadvantaged South Africans obtain a quality, relevant education that will improve their employment prospects in the local job market.

Take part in largest sector survey for 2015

A coalition of sector bodies has come together to launch the biggest survey of charities and voluntary organisations of the year. The survey is gathering evidence about the support charities need and will be used to influence politicians, key decision makers and funders.

Changes to Gift Aid declaration forms

New model forms for Gift Aid declarations have been produced by HM Revenue & Customs. HMRC says

Changes to the Gift Aid Declaration forms, sponsor form and guidance have been made to make it easier for customers to understand their tax obligations when they make donations to a charity or Community Amateur Sports Club.

Updated official guidance with links to the forms.

Advice on community share offers

A new online tool aims to help groups successfully navigate their way to a community share launch, from just an initial idea or on the verge of issuing an offer. Produced by the Community Shares Unit with Community Shares Scotland, the tool will generate a bespoke report that highlights key areas of action. See Community Shares Step by Step.

Scottish conference on social finance creating a fairer society

Transforming how money is used for social good – and to create a fairer society across Scotland – will be in the spotlight in Edinburgh next month, at the country’s first conference focused on social finance.

First steps, and concerns, on new fundraising regulation

The first meeting has been held of sector bodies to progress a new organisation to take over responsibility for regulating charity fundraising from the existing self-regulatory bodies. It was co-hosted by the Minister for Civil Society and NCVO’s Stuart Etherington, who led the recent review.

The aim is for the new self-regulator to take responsibility for the code of fundraising practice. In the meantime, the FRSB will continue to self-regulate charity fundraising until such time as the new self-regulator is established.
