Labour’s shadow minister views on charity sector

Civil Society News has an interview with the new shadow Minister for Civil Society Anna Turley.

While Turley, the Labour MP for Redcar, says:

“this is a time for us to do some really interesting, bold and radical thinking, and to engage in terms of listening to the sector and what is happening out there.”

she also holds to the line that the Lobbying Act should be repealed. Campaigning “is a fundamental part of what charities and the community and voluntary sector are there to do”.

There is an interesting observation that “there is a very important relationship between local government and the community and voluntary sector which¬† is sometimes overlooked by central government”.
