Awards time for charity leaders and trustees

There are a number of awards currently open for entry which aim to recognise good charity governance, leadership and the input of trustees.

Closing for entries on 25th October, The Guardian’s ‘Trustee of the Year’ awards are closely connected with Trustees Week (2nd to 8th November). This has a simple online form to “nominate a board member who goes that extra mile”.

Northern Ireland’s CO3 Leadership Awards, ‘Celebrating Champions’, has 7 categories:

  • Third Sector Trustee of the Year (a submission of up to a thousand words is requested)
  • Inspiring Leader of the Year
  • Lifetime Commitment to the Third Sector
  • Entrepreneurial Leader of the Year
  • Best Newcomer of the Year
  • Champion of Good Impact Practice
  • Leading People

Closing date 6th November.

The new Charity Governance Awards has its own website (which requires cookies to be enabled). The entry process appears somewhat more involved, with a deadline of 15th January. The 6 categories are:

  • Improving impact – charities with 3 paid staff or fewer (including charities with no paid staff)
  • Improving impact – charities with 4–25 paid staff
  • Improving impact – charities with 26 paid staff or more
  • Board diversity and inclusivity
  • Managing turnaround
  • Embracing opportunity and harnessing risk

Organised by the Clothworkers’ Company, with partners including New Philanthropy Capital and Reach (skilled volunteering agency).
