This country “has a proud history of non-party political campaigning for charitable causes, with roots deep in the development of our democratic society”. So says a good background article from a former Charity Commission board member, showing that such campaigns can be led from the left or right (or middle) of the political spectrum.
Those who decry charity campaigning today are demonstrating a huge deficit of historical understanding.
