Welsh government sets out support for volunteering

The Welsh Government has published ‘Volunteering Policy: Supporting Communities, Changing Lives’. They recognise the benefits in providing funding and support to volunteering and sees it as “an important expression of citizenship and as an essential component of democracy”.

The purpose of the policy is to:
• improve access to volunteering for people of all ages and from all parts of society;
• encourage the more effective involvement of volunteers, including through appropriate training;
• raise the status and improve the image of volunteering.
