Innovation, and sharing failures, to strengthen sector work

A new report from ActionAid and NPC has 26 essays on innovation, with contributions from Christian Aid, Oxfam, Scope, Jamie Oliver Foundation and others. ‘Insights on innovation: lessons for the not-for-profit sector’ considers how the sector could be strengthened through a bolder, more innovative approach to its work.

The lead-in on Civil Society News says that the voluntary sector needs to share more of its failures to encourage innovation and build trust with the public and funders. And a connected NPC blog says

(We) might go so far as to say that if an organisation isn’t failing then perhaps it isn’t innovating enough. Innovation is, after all, a risky business. But in our fast-changing world, simply doing what you’ve done before may no longer cut it.
