Researching social media’s role in community action

Social media is “widely believed to be transforming democracy and community action”, but evidence is scant. The Third Sector Research Centre, with support from the Barrow Cadbury Trust, is researching the use and non-use of social media for community action among community groups in England.

Part of this research has been designed to find out what difference social media has made for voluntary groups or organisations and the wider communities they are involved with. TRSC is also particularly interested in the reasons for non-use of social media, so responding to this survey is welcomed even if you are not currently using these technologies.

A full report based on there search will be available later this year.

See Community Action and Social Media Research page on TSRC, with link to the survey.
