More work on Commission guidance for charity trustees

The Charity Commission has published analysis of the consultation responses to draft revisions to its core guidance ‘The essential trustee’.

While many respondents saw the revision as a step forward, the Commission is planning to improve the draft further. It will focus on:

  • developing the summary section as an ‘at-a-glance’ statement of the basics.
  • clarifying which parts of good practice it is vital for trustees to get right, and what the Commission expects of trustees.
  • providing clearer reassurance to the vast majority of trustees who discharge their duties responsibly and to the best of their ability.
  • also consider the specific and detailed feedback.

They hope to publish the updated version early in the summer.
