Irish charity registration deadline extended a year

The deadline for charities in Ireland to register with the Charities Regulatory Authority has been extended to 16th April 2016. Welcoming the announcement, sector body The Wheel said that “it appears that many of these mostly smaller organisations (without an existing CHY number from the Revenue Commissioners) are unaware of their obligation to register”. The original six month registration period expired on 16th April 2015.

See The Wheel news item, or go direct to Charities Regulatory Authority website.

Note: this refers to Republic of Ireland only – the deadline for charity registration in Northern Ireland has already gone, although the regulator is still urging sign-up by those who have missed it. See Charity Commission NI.
