Welsh government gets Welsh domain names

The Welsh Government has switched its main website over to the .wales and .cymru domains. www.wales.gov.uk becomes www.gov.wales, and www.cymru.gov.uk is www.llyw.cymru.

Changes to other Welsh Government sites will follow, and the domains are also being developed so that local authorities can adopt the format “councilname”.gov.wales and “councilname”.llyw.cymru.

Note: if this sounds familiar, we recently reported on a similar move by the Scottish Government.
