Support for changes to Scottish empowerment law

An amendment to the Community Empowerment Bill, agreed by the Scottish Parliament’s Local Government and Regeneration Committee, has been backed by campaigners. This would give communities an appeal mechanism if a request to participate in improving the local area was turned down by the local authority or other public body.

A number of organisations had been campaigning for the legislation to be strengthened to give more power to communities and are pleased with this move. Read more on Third Force News at
