Proposals to reduce charity law restrictions

The Law Commission’s review of charity law has moved to the consultation stage on a range of possible reforms to the complex legislation. There are 40 proposed changes and views are requested on a further 57 issues.

Areas under consideration include making the use of permanent endowments more flexible, simplifying the protection of gifts in merged charities and also reducing the burden of regulation on land transactions.
