N Ireland government structure to get overhaul

The departmental structure of Northern Ireland’s government is to change following an agreement to reduce the current 12 to nine by the 2016 NI election.

Sector body NICVA reports on the details of the changes announced by the First Minister recently at http://www.nicva.org/article/departmental-restructure-what-going-where. The legislation necessary for this is due to arrive in the NI Assembly after the Easter Recess. It will be “the most extensive reorganisation of the departmental system since 1999” and administratively challenging, so look out for further information on timetables.
