Volunteer wellbeing, volunteering future

A couple of new volunteering discussion articles from NCVO:

There is a short report back from what a panel of experts had to say on the changing world of volunteering at a recent NCVO event. In ‘Volunteering and the perils of trying to predict the future…’, http://blogs.ncvo.org.uk/2015/02/10/volunteering-and-the-perils-of-trying-to-predict-the-future/, issues include the changing demographics of volunteers, the next stage in public spending cuts, and the importance of volunteer management.

Written from the point of view of the Olympics volunteering legacy charity and sports volunteers, ‘Here’s what we learned about volunteer wellbeing’ is at http://blogs.ncvo.org.uk/2015/02/09/make-volunteer-wellbeing-your-new-years-resolution/. Sports volunteers are not ‘givers’ but ‘investors’, investing in “their own wellbeing, in those they support to be active and in the local communities in which the UK’s 150,000 volunteer-run sports clubs are based”.
