Committee starts on draft charity law

The parliamentary committee to examine and report on the new draft Protection of Charities Bill (see previous news item) has now been established.

The draft law proposes to close current legal loopholes such as the ability of trustees to avoid regulatory enforcement action by resigning. The committee will call for evidence shortly and is due to report by February 2015.
