Parliament debates the voluntary sector

The House of Lords recently had a debate on the motion “that this House takes note of the role played by the voluntary and charitable sectors“. NCVO’s Five Minutes in Parliament round up gives some of the topics discussed, http://blogs.ncvo.org.uk/2014/07/07/five-minutes-in-parliament-5/, and suggests that the full debate is well worth a read – find it on Parliament website.

This week (8th July), a session of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Civil Society and Volunteering discussed the involvement of young people and a perceived reluctance among charities to take on young volunteers, and particularly to appoint young trustees.
