Small charities can now register as CIOs

From Bates Wells Braithwaite weekly review: there has been confirmation from the Charity Commission that Charitable Incorporated Organisations can now be registered with incomes under five thousand pounds. Pending the website/online form being updated, “you will need to put on the form that your income is over £5,000 in order to progress . . You should then put a note at the end in the special circumstances box at the end of the form explaining that the income is under £5,000.”

Smaller charities previously unable to register can now, via registration as a CIO, obtain a charity number. FAQs on CIOs.
