Scottish sector improvements, and zero hour contracts

Scottish umbrella body SCVO has issued its latest ‘State of the Sector’ report, at http://www.scvo.org.uk/long-form-posts/state-of-the-sector-2013/, which suggests that “It looks as if the sector has turned a corner”.

It also finds that almost a third of organisations responding to the survey use flexible contracts with low numbers of guaranteed hours (“zero hours contracts”) – an SCVO discussion article looks at the implications and has some useful links (we mentioned the CIPD report previously).

Also note that SCVO is the latest organisation to revamp its website using the WordPress system – it generally looks good but there may still be a few quirks to iron out, and we were unable to download the pdf of the report.
