Sector recommendations on the lobbying bill

The Commission on Civil Society and Democratic Engagement, established in September in response to concerns about a potential ‘chilling effect’ on campaigning from Part 2 of the Transparency in Lobbying, Non-party Campaigning, and Trade Union Administration Bill, has issued its report containing a number of recommendations. It addresses the state of civil society’s engagement in democratic processes; the likely impacts of Part 2 of the Bill on campaigning activity if it passes into law in its current form; and what changes to regulation of non-party campaigning are needed ahead of elections.
