Putting people at the centre to transform public services

Wales Council for Voluntary Action is calling for the urgent transformation of public services in Wales and the safeguarding of activities essential to maintaining people in their community, but at risk through cuts.

Its new plan ‘Putting people at the centre’ says that public services should be transformed by: treating people and communities as assets and equals in design and delivery; building services around the person and community; unlocking potential resources of time, money and expertise to combine with state funding; using existing state resources to ‘enable and maximise’ citizen and community action, capital and care. Another recent WCVA news article says that Welsh charities and voluntary organisations funded by the Welsh Government have seen a dramatic fall in the amount of money they receive.
