Consultation on the census and population statistics

Census data has an impact on the voluntary sector through population size and makeup statistics, and other matters informing funding decisions and influencing policy. The Office for National Statistics is consulting on ‘The census and future provision of population statistics in England and Wales’, where proposals include replacing the 10 yearly census with a compulsory annual survey of around one per cent of households supplementing administrative data already held by government.

Consultation document (pdf, 175KB) – the online survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XY3SK3W runs to 13th December.
