Change in approach called for in NI government funding

In Northern Ireland, a working group established in response to an NI Audit Office report on the relationship between government and the sector has produced its own report ‘Addressing Bureaucracy: A report on tackling bureaucracy in government funding to the voluntary and community sector’. The document makes 19 recommendations, available in pdf, 989KB from http://www.dsdni.gov.uk/addressing-bureaucracy-report.pdf.

Civil Society Media leads its news item with the need for a “change in approach” to government funding, and departments should share information to prevent duplication, http://www.civilsociety.co.uk/governance/news/content/15574/.

Umbrella body NICVA had repeatedly raised increasing reporting demands taking resources from the actual funded activity, see their news item http://www.nicva.org/news/cutting-red-tape-and-bureaucracy-another-step-forward.
