Strengthening Welsh Government grants management

Final recommendations have been published from a review of the Welsh government’s grants system after a recent scandal. The Welsh Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee calls for more stringent conditions for recipients and an annual report into statutory funding of the sector. Civil Society Media news item

Welsh umbrella body WCVA says that the report could strengthen the code of practice for funding the third sector, for instance because the government should “clearly and explicitly” state its rationale for terminating or substantially cutting its funding to grant funded organisations, prior to doing so.
