A quality standard for Scottish groups involving volunteers

Volunteer Friendly Award, a "simple, user-friendly quality standard" to support, recognise and reward groups across Scotland who are good at involving volunteers, has a new website at http://www.volunteerfriendly.org.uk.

The standard has been developed by Volunteer Centre Dundee, which has been funded to spread it wider.

Zero rate VAT on new buildings for charitable use

HM Revenue and Customs has issued a Brief to remind charities that the 'charitable buildings' VAT concession (ESC 3.29) is withdrawn from 1st July 2010, http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/briefs/vat/brief2610.htm.

Defining the help needed for organisations to work together

Northern Ireland's sector umbrella body NICVA is keen to help organisations which are considering mergers, collaborations or partnerships, and so is gathering views from the sector on what support they need to work with others, either formally or informally.

Measuring Outcomes for Public Service Users (MOPSU), a 3 year research project to develop new, and examine existing, measures of public service outcomes, has produced its final report.

Published by the Office for National Statistics, it focuses on the public service areas of adult social care and early years education, and examines the role of the voluntary and community sector in delivering such services.
